Data Files GPS Coordinate Formats

PDF & KML Files use Degrees and Decimal Minutes (DMM) format. For instance all 2 of these presented are the same:

28 50.642 N
28 degrees, 50.642 minutes

GPX Files use Decimal Degrees (DD) format. As an example 28.9692474 is the same as 28 58.155 DMM

Brand FIles are in the format required by the manufacturer. Most new units now read GPX files.

Deployment Dates for reefs are the approximate date artificial reefs were placed, the date a vessel sunk, or the date discovered. The older the reef, the more established it is with marine life.

Datum is North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83).

D = Depth is the depth of the water from the water surface to the seafloor bottom in feet.

R = Relief is the height that the materials rise above the seafloor bottom in feet.
