We include rules on sites in highly regulated areas, for mooring buoys, spearfishing and lobstering. We only include site specific rules on our charts. If no rule is mentioned, then you follow the regional specific rules.
Mooring Buoys - In areas where mooring buoys are provided, we obtained lists of buoys and include them on our charts. We indicate whether you can or cannot fish while tied to the buoy. This was a hair pulling task with the result being a huge benefit to visitors to the area that do not know the rules. Not only does this information save our reefs from anchor damage, it gives visitors easy access to fishing when they find buoys they can fish from on our charts.
Spearfishing rules can be very confusing. We indicate sites where no spearfishing is allowed and on sites where it is allowed if we learn the rules. We do the same for lobstering rules, mostly the sites where you cannot lobster.
If a site is in a Marine Zone (federal or state), then spearing, lobstering and fishing rules fall under that rule, so it is not indicated on the site.
