Question:

GPS Models - Humminbird®

Answer:

Memory Cards

Our memory cards include Humminbird® files ready to import into your HumminbirdPC® software. Humminbird® strongly advises you to run our waypoints through their software. You can download this free software after you register your unit on their website.

Converting GPX Files Using HumminbirdPCTM Software

NOTE: This software is not MAC compatible, you must have a Windows PC to install and use the software

Humminbird® strongly recommends importing waypoints into their HumminbirdPCTM software so waypoints get converted properly. Waypoints not filtered through their software can lockup your unit. Read the Technical Bulletin on importing non-Humminbird GPX waypoints directly into your unit.

You need the correct card size for your unit to read data from the card. We list above the maximum card sizes units accept.

HumminbirdPCTM Software is free to unit owners and is used to manage your waypoints and import our waypoints.

1. Register your unit at https://www.humminbird.com

2. While logged in, click My Equipment and you will see under the section Download "HumminbirdPC" link. Download the software and install on your computer.

3. Open the software then insert our chip into your computer. A chip will appear on the left side.

4. Under the File menu to the far left is an icon "Open GPX or Other Navigation File", click this icon, navigate to the drive letter where there is a GPX file, click it to open.

5. Click on the GPX file name that appears, click on the UP arrow to the left below the SD icon. This will save the file back to the SD card in the format the software prefers.

If your unit doesn't recognize the chip when inserted We have had units where Reset to Defaults fixes the issue, which is said to be an internal software issue.

Older Humminbird® Units with the large CF card cannot import our waypoints; if you have one of these units your only option is to manually enter waypoints from our PDF file lists. Please do not purchase our files, there is no way to get them on your unit.

If you have a very old unit, it may require only 1 hwr file on the chip inside the matrix folder, the rest of the chip should not contain any other data. If you still have trouble, it's possible the chip is too large for the unit to read. We suggest you call Humminbird support to verify chip size and if 1 file on the chip is required. Our chip is 2GB FAT.
